Climbing up and Running down Sleeping Bear Dunes! If you are going to be going to Michigan you need to see the Sleeping Bear Dunes. They are amazing! Granted we only made it up the first 2 hills but I can only imagine what the rest of it looked like! I would love to return …

Boondocking at Walmart

We left for Michigan on a Friday – after Craig got home from work. We planned on boondocking at a Walmart for Friday night. No Walmart is not a brushy area – but you get the idea! It actually works out really great! Almost all Walmart’s offer this service and all you have to do is …

Unschooling – Socialization

Socialization . . . where to begin 🙂 Yes we were concerned when we first started talking about homeschooling and now were not. One of our main reasons for homeschooling is that our families relationship and time together was more important than anything else. We socialize all day long with each other! What a great way to learn how to interact with other people!

Michigan – here we come!

This is our first week long trip with our class A RV (and without a house). We took a weekend trip a few weeks ago and it helped prepare us :)!

We took the week preparing our bikes to go on the back of the RV. We originally planned on taking our car but we figured out less then two weeks before we left that our car can’t be easily towed behind the RV . . . that will have to be another post!

Why Unschooling

Spending time at our chalkboard playing with chalk and rulers.
Spending time at our chalkboard playing with chalk and rulers.

My Mom was actually the first person who mentioned homeschooling. She shared a lot of great research with us and we started to look more into it and to do our own research. When we came across Unschooling (My Mom had shared one of Dayna Martin’s books with us) we knew it sounded like the right fit. We had been doing attachment parenting since the kids were born and unschooling felt like an extension of that.

When Carson turned 5 we had a very serious conversation about if we thought homeschooling was right and also if we thought

Milwaukee air show – no go

We tried to go to the Milwaukee air show with the kids today. On the way there it kept getting foggier and foggier. By the time we got to the Lake you couldn’t even see 20 feet out over the water . . . We drove by all of the festivities  and Melia said “this …

Why

FamilypicJune2014

Why are we doing this? It really comes down to one thing. We want to spend as much time as possible as a family!

Don’t get me wrong we loved living in our house and when we built it we thought we would never leave. We bought LOTS of toys and things for the house and we enjoyed them and enjoyed having big birthday parties. But it just never felt right to spend so much money and time on our house.

1 – Cleaning – It was basically impossible for me to keep it clean – unless I dedicated hours each day to cleaning or we paid a cleaning

Yogi Bear Dance party!

Today my parents came out to visit and we went to Yogi’s Dance Party and we had one of those moments when I looked around and thought this is Great! It is like an emotion that takes over and just makes you feel so happy and appreciative for everything you have! It was when all 12 …

Bad Moments Not Bad Days

I use to be all or nothing. If the day started off bad or if something went wrong then the rest of the day was bad. We now have a different approach. If something bad happens – we get over it and move on within minutes. So instead of having a bad day we have bad …

Our parenting journey

When I was pregnant with Carson we were the type of parents that bought all of the accessories and tools you “needed” to have a baby. That’s what good parenting is, right? We never thought we would co-sleep and we had the crib set up in the other room all ready to go. Then Carson …

Downsizing and Emotions
